Erin Thornton
Associate Professor Washington State University Department of Anthropology
I am a broadly-trained environmental archaeologist with methodological expertise in zooarchaeology, human osteology and stable isotope analysis. My current research is based primarily in Mesoamerica, but I have also conducted archaeological research in Peru, the Caribbean, and the southeastern United States. My current research addresses socio-economic questions related to subsistence, animal domestication, political economy and exchange, and environmental questions regarding human impacts on and responses to deforestation, climate, and changing wildlife populations.

Kitty Emery
Curator Florida Museum of Natural History Environmental Archaeology
Emery is an environmental archaeologist who specializes in ancient Mesoamerican peoples and environments. Her research links archaeobotanical, zooarchaeological, and geoarchaeological data to reconstruct ancient human/environment relationships. Emery’s technical specialty is zooarchaeology, and her research with animal remains from many Central American sites is allowing her to investigate ancient climate change, deforestation and other landscape changes, animal product crafting and exchange, and the politics and ritual of animal use.

Camilla Speller
Associate Professor University of British Columbia Department of Anthropology
I am broadly trained in biological anthropology and archaeology. My research applies ancient DNA and protein analysis to study a broad range of environmental issues and human-environment interactions in the past and in the present, with a particular focus on human-animal relationships, marine ecosystems and animal domestication. I became a Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of York in 2014 and led the ancient genetics group at BioArCh until 2018, when I joined the Department of Anthropology at UBC. I currently supervise research in our dedicated Ancient DNA and Proteins (ADαPT) Facility.

Rob Guralnick
Curator Florida Museum of Natural History Biodiversity Informatics
I am a biodiversity scientist who takes an integrative approach to global change biology. Although interested in theory and practice of the discipline, my work is also geared towards the mobilization and (re)-use of biodiversity records already collected such as biocollections records and data from the literature. I am lucky to have one of the few positions in the world where I can meld those interests effortlessly as a Curator of Biodiversity Informatics.
